now put teacher three who lets her students redo their essay with supporting arguments (or entirely rewritten) and let them change their grade. now they have control over their own academic careere and actually learn things from their asignment

This is why I’m working hard to teach kids to use rubrics BEFORE they turn them in. My grade should never surprise you except for when you undervalued your performance.

You remind me so much of some of the greatest teachers I've ever had. They really do mark your heart, and I always remember them now that I'm older. I had an English teacher in high school and she would have quipped back "well if you wanted a better grade you should have followed the directions. a paper without supports is like a house without a foundation it'll fall and crumble." I love teacher 2..

I had a teacher do this for me as a dyslexic student and it was so freaking helpful. I do this now when I am writing my papers for college and the teacher that did it for me because I was special needs and trying to learn how to function without an IEP, which was my goal out of high school. She actually added five points onto my grade, so it was a B instead of a C because I did the work and I learned.

My son's a freshman in highschool and his teacher has something like that and they can get a little bit of extra credit towards the paper grade for the self reflection on their grade.

I'm (perhaps mistakenly) working on my special ed degree RN. I have been thinking about pivoting to high school English though. I can tell that you made such an incredible impact on your students, I hope I can teach like this someday.

I literally just write everything I need for a paper as individual sentences and then combine them into the necessary paragraphs.

I was personally a fan of the bullet outlines. make my arguments, provide support, times that by 3 or whatever the page count was, then work on conclusion. intro came after I had a solid argument
