As an Autistic Hindu, yes!! Yoga, meditation, and many Ayurvedic practices have proven health benefits. Puja rituals engage the senses and are grounding for me. My strong sense of justice doesn't negate my belief in karma, it enhances it. Seva (selfless service) and ahmisa (non-violence) is something repeatedly emphasized in our scriptures to dissolve the ego and reduce suffering. That's not even including our dharmic dance forms and artistic practices. As a whole, it satisfies everything 🪷

I appreciate so many things about you - your work of understanding how autistic people fit into this discussion and their particular flavor of existential health is among what I appreciate the most.

Is there any writing about neurodivergent people and their relationship to understanding the world isn’t inherently fair/just? It’s something I struggle with as an ND person a lot. And would love to find anything that might help find some peace with it.

I am personally unfamiliar with any research or work related to “neurodivergence”. I will say I don’t like the terms. Is there any hard data to establish what even is “neurotypical”? How would we even understand what the “divergence” part is without a standard or a baseline? That is unclear to me. If anyone can point me to articles or authors I would appreciate it.

Please go deeper into this, and make it a series. As an autistic person, I'm always trying to articulate, what you so eloquently outlined.

I call myself an autistic philosopher of human difference (philosophy is at the core of everything I conceptualize) and I find this analysis absolutely fascinating. 😊

Thank you to all the neurodivergent people who commented and told about their experience. It’s so helpful for those of us trying to be allies 🫶🏻🦄

I think this is how more ancient religious practices were oriented and built around. They were more about supporting community connection and recognizing our relationships with nature and cycles. I personally think autistic bodies are more attuned to natural seasons and cycles and learning this can help us function and regulate

This is exactly what I'm trying to do right now. I'd like to create this new religion. I think it will take me decades to write, I have so much material in my head. I've just recently learned how to get my ideas onto paper. I'm very excited to get something published, in a decade or two.

I’m autistic and relate to some aspects of this. I’m theologically liberal (Episcopalian). I see restorative justice at the heart of Christianity that should focus on the here and now.
