i have chronic migraine. if i found a medication that complete resolved all my symptoms, i would happily be on it for the rest of my life. we are dependent on many things for our entire life: food, water, etc. i’m not sure where this idea comes from that it’s inherently bad to take something forever.

I completely understand you don’t want to be on this drug for your entire life, but sometimes our bodies aren’t working the way they should and need help for the long run. That’s okay. I don’t want you to think of it as a failure because that’s not what it is.

Chronic conditions require chronic treatment sometimes. The body is not perfect and sometimes there is no “healing” to the point you don’t need a medication.

I wouldn’t say drugs “mask symptoms.” I think all the effort you’re putting in is not reaping you enough rewards. Sometimes medication is just something you have to live with, it’s not the worst thing, believe me.

I felt like that about minoxidil but reframed the thinking with realising that there aren’t many things you can do health or body related just once and expect it to work forever. Brushing your teeth, exercise, moisturising, eating, cutting your nails etc are all things you have to do every day or regularly. Think- what in your life can you do just once and it works forever?

I was on Dupixent and then ebglyss for over a year, I came off it in November due to drug cost and insurance. I still have flares, but not as bad as before.
