i think most ppl don't realize how much similar soldier boy and homelander are. they both had to grew up with the feeling of not being good enough, of not being loved, and i think that's the reason they became what they are, they always craved both admiration and fear simply coz sometimes those are the only things which can make u feel as if u worth something even if u're not feel loved, even if of course that's just a way of coping, coz nothing can really replace the feeling of being loved and at the same time if u're not feel loved nothing can really replace that. i think the main difference between them is that soldier boy is able to hide what he really feels much more better than homelander. and i think the reason soldier boy despise homelander so much is because he sees in him the part of himself he always suppressed, that side of him who is insecure, not feeling good enough, craving for love
