Also brass which looks a lot like gold, rusts very quickly so you can’t make hand held things with it, so we end up associating that colour more with jewellery and gilded things where as steel, aluminium, platinum and silver are inert and accessible

also silvery metals are cheap. Steel and aluminum are on the cheaper, more mass produced end, while gold, but even brass and aluminum bronze are more expensive options, which correlate with the past where technology was only for the rich

Gold has an earthy color to it which subconsciously reminds of ancient weapons , ancient tools and overall ancient times ; silver reminds of spaceships, new technology, “airy” stuff , ethereal vibes, therefore futuristic

Also silver isn’t really natural to see gold can be found more in the environment then silver so it makes sense why we see silver as more futuristic because it’s so much harder to get the mirror and shiny effect so it gives us the uncanny effect when seen especially in the wild compared to seeing something gold in the wild so that’s why I think silver is seen as futuristic 😌

I wonder how much of this is a reflection of nature. Humans often reflect what they already see in nature, whether they realize it or not. Like how circuits look like the roots of trees or human nervous systems. The term that comes to mind is foxing or rust, yellow is just the color of age.
