@yarravalleystargazing: You shouldn’t buy a telescope cos you have to learn all this stuff to before even getting to the point of seeing anything through it. Which is why most telescope purchases end up as expensive dust collectors sitting in garages. Instead? Come on a stargazing tour with me in the Yarra Valley and let me show you heaps of cool stuff through my high powered telescope!! Just a 1hr drive from Melbourne. Easy way. Next one is May 16th at @Oscar's on the Yarra - link in bio if you wanna see this irl
These units must be much smarter by now but they are not. A simple digital picture of the night sky should pinpoint every object and then the telescope should quickly go to the object and focus it. No manual intervention needed. This can be done with few lines of code and a pre-fed picture of the objects in the sky. Soon a smarter telescope will pop up in the market.

You should do a video on differences in the northern/southern hemisphere for stargazing

haha love it. are you in Wellington. did you say Aro Valley. I lived there once, and hopefully never again. I'm in Mangawhai now. I used to get good seeing up here with my little telescope but I broke the tripod stand and now hoping to buy another one day. 😁

I Love that astronomy tourism is becoming a thing, as well as dark sky areas. Great job👏👏👏

Nice. I find it difficult to picture the orientation of where I am on earth, to why the planets (like Jupiter in this case) are tilted almost vertical in the sky now, but closer to horizontal other times of the year.

I always imagine someone at the other end of the tracking viewpoint staring back at our little star and thinking, isn’t that interesting

where I am in Australia, Jupiter doesn't get very high. which is a pity since higher would give better seeing
