My aunt was a columbine survivor, she was in the cafeteria and fell into a heavy drug addiction due to the PTSD. She passed away in 2017 of an overdose. Her name was Hannah Cain

I think the brain tries to make sense of a traumatic event by coming up with something that makes sense and is not so scary. Especially in a situation like you went through when it’s so unexpected you want to think it’s anything but is actually happening.

The circumstances aren’t comparable, but when you talked about your brain trying to make sense of it, it made me think of when I experienced an earthquake. I thought all the washers and dryers in my dorm got turned on at the same time. I think your brain tries to think of something familiar.

My grandma was a teacher there, she was walking out the front doors to go to a doctors appointment to see if she had breast cancer as they were walking in. I’m so great full that she decided to go to that appointment that day and that she didn’t have cancer. ❤️
