Im seriously asking why do you guys interfere with graphic cards? I understand changing paste on cpu. But man, I had rtx3080 till the end of last year and 1660super before that. I never touched the paste or the pads and temps were great, almost the same as the new ones. It unnecessary and in most cases voids warranty…

you should never repad and repaste unless the card is overheating or has a big delta between memory and cpu temps (like 20C). that being said, gigabyte has some of the most dogshit thermal paste application and we constantly repaste them

There’s not downsides to thermal putty unless it comes directly from gigabyte. That is more so a thermal gel which is different. Thermal putty has the best effect for better temps.

Top tip… REMEMBER TO PLUG YOUR FANS BACK IN WHEN YOU’RE DONE I DID THIS THE OTHER DAY AND WAS WONDERING WHY I WAS GETTING BAD FPS (my temps were 105 and 115 hotspot)

Thermal putty is sometimes better than thermal pads because it can cover a lot more surface areas. It really depends on the brand you use.
