Speak the truth :
When I hear this song my heart breaks. It simply and honestly tells what has happened to my beloved country, Ethiopia. Our people have endured immense suffering: wars, genocidal hatred, and brutal injustices. Over the last eight years, Ethiopia has been subjected to evils that are almost impossible to describe.
Foreign powers have taken advantage of our vulnerability. The United Arab Emirates and others have been acquiring fertile land, especially in southern Ethiopia, seizing resources that belong to our people so they can profit and live comfortably abroad. Meanwhile here at home the people continue to suffer. Regardless of social status, people are grieving; happiness is scarce. The only people benefitting are those who sold us to outsiders — those who trade our national interests for personal gain.
This makes me furious and heartbroken. My life, like the lives of so many Ethiopians, feels miserable until our land has peace. People should be free to protect the fruits of their labor, to keep what they earn, and to live with dignity — not be robbed by corrupt regimes or foreign opportunists. It is not simply about one person’s betrayal; it is the painful reality of a nation weakened by predatory actors, both domestic and foreign.
When I see people cry at a simple song, I hear a powerful message: this is the situation of Ethiopia now. We are crying out for justice, for our land, and for the chance to rebuild a country where Ethiopians can live in safety and prosperity.
