Next stop: the vomit comet! 🤢🤢🤢 Road trips with kids can be a WILD ride - but let’s keep it fun and not so nauseating. No one wants to be cleaning up vomit off the side of the highway 🚗 Here are some tried-and-true tips for tackling car sickness from personal experience with a 4 year old who gets motion sick everytime we get in the car 🤮 💊 MEDICATION • Gravol (called Dramamine in the USA ). The key is timing. It needs 30-60 minutes to fully take effect, so we always have to remember to give it BEFORE driving. Get it in chewables or liquid. My son personally prefers liquid and we always bring it in our carry-on with us - FYI children’s medicine is excempt from the 100mL rule. • Kids anti-nausea wristbands - natural nausea relief through acupressure • Tumeez Organic Tummy Soothing Pops - kid-friendly antacid in the form of a lollipop to soothe upset tummies 🍭 🧼 MESS PREP • Medical vomit bags - I don’t know how we lived without these. They have saved our car, clothing and sanity so many times before. • Change of clothes. ALWAYS bring a second outfit for your kids in a gallon sized ziplock bag (so you can put soiled clothing in after) 👚 • Wet dry bag - Great for organizing all the car-sick stuff! • Hand sanitizer, anti-bacterial wipes, baby wipes 🎮 ENTERTAINMENT • Yoto Mini - my kid can’t even look at a phone in the car for a few mins without getting nauseous, let alone watch a movie on an iPad. The Yoto Mini is SUCH a lifesaver - it’s a portable audio player for kids that allows them to play cards pre-loaded with stories and music. • Look UP and OUT - many toys and activities can contribute car sickness because they require kids to look down. Focus on things that get them looking up and out. For example, games that involve looking out the window, such as I Spy, license plate bingo, or counting cars of a certain color. Suction toys, gel clings, washi tape, window markers, and reusable stickers are also great for sticking on the window! Don’t forget to SAVE for your next road trip 🚗
