You did have the same pace, she just had a couple of seconds of extra speed to pull ahead. When in front her pace was constant. Probably a few seconds difference overall but averages are basically the samw

surely if the average gap is like 10 or 15m then the times would be the same because it's a consistent gap the only time she would be faster then you is the initial gap, correct me if im wrong ?

My Garmin overestimates my pace as for some reason the distance it records is just slightly more than reality - I checked on the treadmill. Think it's estimating my distance in stride length but can't be sure

You can calibrate a true mile on your Garmin watch using a treadmill or track, maybe that will help
