It’s time to talk about one of my favorite things, spongeware. The plates and sugar bowl I show are actually considered spatterware (which is made by spattering the small dots of color onto the pottery with a sponge on a stick and goes back to the late 18th c), and often lumped in with spongeware. It’s a wonderful decoration style and a fun thing to look out for. Do you have any spongeware (or splatterware) in your collection?
