I was on the kajang mrt today during peak hour (5 plus pm) the frequencies are amazing, 2 mins (they sometimes bring empty trains towards kl) but even with that, its still PACKED, we ARE utilising the mrt despite bad first/last mile, i truly think mrt corp does really well with what they could do, it's just a shame the past few government wanted to cut cost (ampang park connection, lrt shorter carriages n lesser train setd)

Not really. I don't use lrt because I dont live near lrt station. So I need to order car to send me there which kinda defeat the purpose

people are always shocked when I say I don't own a car even when I say my lifestyle doesn't require one. My workplace is literally 10 minutes away from my house and I rarely go out to chill. Some people still think i should buy a car. They definitely see the fact that i don't hv a car as something that i should be ashamed of.

I've solely used public transport till I was 19 or so. I've stopped taking them mainly because I got penalized or paycuts because the bus driver stops at the side the road to buy his breakfast. Reporting them goes no where. I've eventually resorted to Grab and slowly to driving myself to work. Maybe today if you viral it, but these issues for me was like 10 years ago for me. Even if I look past that, pathways are not actually pathways. Not exactly walkable nor is our transit systems are well thought out. I've been to both Beijing and Tokyo. It's sad to say that our public transit system are as shitty as it is. Our roads are just as worse. nothing is planned out well. Commercial and residential built up like they are next to each other but not like people are walking to those places. Even if they try to walk there, it's hike, climb and walk on paths that are just muddy or not covered. Let's not forget about the water puddles on the roads, whenever it rains. You get splashed and not only you get soaked but whatever you have bought may have gotten soaked.

But but but, I love having a car. I can go out anytime I like, even at midnight where there is zero public transport. I can fetch my elderly for medical treatment with ease. I can go to the gym and don't have to worry about the last bus.

another thing is, public transport is not reliable. imagine trying to get to work on a bus since not all places have lrt. if buses is more frequent and on time then it would be perfect

I love taking the public transport so much, especially the mrt cuz it’s new and comfortable but with the frequent breakdowns it becomes unreliable to rely on it to commute to work everyday or to anywhere honestly

in general if within KL, i prefer public transport. the traffic is crazy, the thinking of where to put my car is even scarier. but it also depends on where i want to go. sometimes there's no public transport access, not even bus, or not efficient, no connectivity. 😭😭

Datang kerja KL Selangor, tau la kos mahal macam mana. Kalau saya bawak kereta, parking saja dah rm 18 sehari. Tak kira minyak lagi, kalau kawan duk jauh tu ada toll lagi. Kita dah kira semua masa dan kos mana yang berbaloi.

Everyone wants a car, end up, it becomes a moving prison that not only get you stuck unable to use toilet, you have to pay for it monthly. Japan made parking so crazy expensive that it’s no longer feasible (parking in Tokyo is 20usd PER HOUR). Car control is the only way to fix this.

Public transport is only convenient to people living in KL-PJ area. LRT/MRT doesn’t even reach Shah Alam or Puchong despite those areas being in the Klang Valley region. Plus the bus routes are inconsistent, and the stations being built in low density areas completely destroys the purpose of having one!

From Perlis and never ever used Buses here because 95% people here use motorbike. our bus stops are very much dilapidated & some bus stops, buses cant even stop bcs someone left their car since like the pandemic in front of Khoon Aik P. School & no one takes any action to tow despite me having lodged aduan on telegram. not to mention, theres no comprehensive timetable, all they give on maraliner website is a route, no fixed timetable nor do they explain frequencies. Personally I believe it can easily be fixed by making bus stops signs similar to the ones in melbourne which uses bright color & a metal sign. it might seem insignificant but it creates publicity/awareness like oh, now I know this is an official bus stop(sorry ya will always use melbourne bcs after living in kangar my whole life I just skipped terus to melbourne not even KL😅) sad thing is, that's the reality for us northerners, public transport exist for show, not for functionality, only a select people use the bus in Perlis. It's just frustrating because its easily fixable with proper marketing & transparency & fixing the infrastructure but no one is gonna do that because demand is still low and Perlis being low density adds to the last mile problem faced worldwide when it comes to transit networks. its fixable, you just need the right person to design a sustainable one

Nahhh I used to drive my Malaysian ex to and from work every weekday when she didn’t have her license and she REFUSED to take public transport. I never understood why but this is a good starting point 🤔

awhile back, i had a really upsetting experience taking a public bus in msia. not sure if this is common, but the bus barely stopped at each stop and was still moving while passengers were getting on and off. when my family and I reached our stop, we had to alight while the bus was still moving on a sloped main road. the driver didn’t check if everyone had safely gotten off and sped off too quickly. one of my family members, who has weak knees, fell while getting off and ended up with a sprained arm and leg and needed to get immediate medical attention as they were seriously injured. what made it worse was the driver showed no remorse when we confronted him. till this day, thinking about it still enrages me. since then, ive avoided taking buses there. while the trains are generally fine, i really hope stricter safety measures will be enforced for buses… srsly… what if it was an elderly? when is the system going to improve for the safety of commuters?

Not true. What you described sounds more like singapore. We probably will be looked down if we don't know how to drive here, it's a necessity. Everyone is happy to take the trains if it's accessible because the jam and parking are horrendous!
