@mckenzie.mack: Does remote work kill your career? This has been a hot topic recently with Emma Grede talking about being visible in the office. Lots of people are upset calling it “return to office propaganda” but to be honest.. I think she is just being realistic about the current state of corporate. It’s outdated but leadership does still value being in the office.
I saw another creator say that if you want to be a multimillionaire, you’re probably going to have to commute/go into the office lmao😭 idk why people are acting like what she said is so outrageous

Why do we talk about office jobs as if they are the standard? From the research I’ve done, I am to understand that only 10% of American employees do this type of work.

I’m fully remote and my company went through a major reorg. I now come in 1-2 days a week to keep up appearances. As long as I keep my tax status, I’ll make my new hybrid schedule work

Also, no decision is final. Choosing remote now doesn’t mean that you cannot chose to go to the office later and spearhead your career when/if your goals change. Enjoy all the stages of your life as much as you can ❤️🩹

I've seen people work in office, do everything right when playing the game, and get passed over. My old coworker left because they wouldn't promote her. She has a director position elsewhere Good for her! There are some things I just don't want to do. I like playing games outside of work. Also, I have a 4hr commute between VA and MD.

Last week I went to the office for 2 days for the first time in almost 3 years. Those days were intentional for training and I told my leadership going in for a specific task occasionally has benefits, but being at a desk? No, thanks. It drives me nuts. I was surprised by how much fun I had those two days, but I don’t see myself EVER willingly giving up the flexibility remote work gives me

I like how you clarify that it does depend on what ranks more important to you. A point I’d like to add though is the importance of being in the office when you are earlier in your career and don’t have the experience or connections. I am also I huge proponent of remote work, but I think there a tons of benefits to being in the office as well especially for those just entering corporate life.

How is leadership going to value seeing me in the office when leadership is also remote?

Remote work is nice for flexibility but I feel like I’m going insane when I’m working at home for several days
