“Miscarriage isn’t that painful.” That’s what I believed too… until I actually experienced one. Rolling on the floor. Unable to get comfortable. Crying, shaking, exhausted. Pain that came in waves and took my breath away. No one really explains that miscarriage pain isn’t just cramps - your body is literally contracting, like labour, trying to pass the pregnancy. And for some of us, especially when complications or infections are involved, the pain can be unbearable. Painkillers barely touched it. Rest didn’t fix it. Time didn’t suddenly make it stop. I went into this thinking it would be uncomfortable, emotional, heavy - but manageable. I was so naïve. The physical trauma alone shocked me, and that’s before you even begin to process the emotional side of losing a baby. I’m sharing this because miscarriage pain is so often minimised. Because so many people are sent home with “just take paracetamol” and left to suffer in silence. Because if this is you - you’re not weak, dramatic, or overreacting. Miscarriage can be excruciating. It can be traumatic. And it deserves to be talked about honestly.
