Hey 😊 Just a small tip about your conure. Right now he’s still young, so he’ll seem friendly with everyone, but that can change once he reaches sexual maturity. Many parrots start to pick a “favorite person”, and they can become protective or even a bit aggressive toward others in the household. It really helps if everyone is involved from the start — sharing things like feeding and handling — so he doesn’t bond too strongly to just one person. Also, I totally get wanting to be with him all the time right now, but it’s a good idea to build a bit of independence early on. You kind of set the standard for how much attention he expects, and if he gets used to constant attention, it can be hard for him later and lead to stress or unwanted behaviors like screaming or feather plucking. Just thought I’d mention it 😊

The own room thing is ideal, also provides significant flexibility in your schedule as unlike people who cover their bird you can just set a light on a timer or allow him to go to sleep and wake up with the sunlight, which gives you more freedom to not have to be home to put him to sleep or wake him up. You’ll learn to understand your bird and the signals he gives off as time goes on. They’re all individuals so sometimes it can be hard to tell initially, but don’t be discouraged. It just takes time. It’s like meeting a new person to be honest you’ll learn what makes your bird tick and what makes him happy and you’ll learn how to read his body language as well. Give yourself some grace. You’re still really early at this and you’re doing wonderful. I’m so happy for you.
