The smoke could also be the oil they use so it doesn’t rust during shipping my car smoked for a good time before it finally burned all that shipping oil from the exhaust

I’ve heard with the same code you should test O2 sensors first. Why not do that before replacing the cat? (If there wasn’t a hole in it of course)

The smoke is from the test pipe, when you install new pipe it come with a thin layer of oil on the inside to prevent it from rusting during storage and transport, I had the same worry when I did my full 3 inch exhaust system and found out that’s why, the white smoke will go away once the film of oil is gone
