I think for me personally Will's strength as an actor was his charisma. It was how much we liked Will Smith as an individual, that made his roles all the more enjoyable. But now his personal image isnt the same anymore, largely because we kept getting told things about his personal life that we didn't ask for. So it's hard to see him that same imo.

It’s not just the slap it’s the red table talks and the entanglements that were revealed making him a complex character that requires careful review of his films and music. He is no longer a known entity. He might be more like his character in Six Degrees of Separation.
