@k9kismet: Meet Howie 💖 Yesterday, 13-year-old Howie #A755788 walked out of his kennel @lbanimalcare for good. We don’t know what happened to the people who looked after him all these years. What we do know is this: Howie was adopted as a puppy from the San Bernardino shelter back in 2013… and somehow, in January 2026, he was found wandering as a stray in Long Beach. All those years with someone. But no one came to claim him. 🥺 At the shelter, Howie was losing weight and facing medical concerns, including an abdominal mass. An emergency plea for rescue support went out because the shelter simply doesn’t have the resources to give him the care he needs. He was running out of time. But people saw him. People cared. A volunteer favorite with a gentle spirit and a spark still in his step, Howie had people rooting for him. Fighting for him. And when the right family stepped up… the kind who don’t wait for perfect timing or easy answers… it was kismet. 😉 Before he left the shelter, his volunteer friends made sure he felt just how loved he was. His auntie @gusti_lind gave him a bath. Auntie @alibeth902 went shopping so he wouldn’t leave empty-handed. A spa day. A new bed. Toys. Bowls. A sendoff full of friends and love. Thanks to @JustFoodforDogs Howie will be enjoying fresh, nutritious meals to help him regain strength and feel his best as he settles into this next chapter. And thanks to the amazing folks @friendsoflongbeachanimals Howie has an appointment on Tuesday @lbc_vets for a full medical workup so we can begin putting together a treatment plan. We don’t know what his future holds medically just yet. But we do know this: His final chapter won’t end in a kennel. It will be about love. Intention. Care. Comfort. And being cherished every single day by the people who chose him when it mattered most. As a K9 Kismet Forever Foster, Howie is... HOME.
