Hotels in China cost almost nothing, especially if you are not in a super touristy city. But the crazier thing is the all day check in. I change hotels all the time for 2 main reasons. That is not true, the staff allows you to check-in as long as there is a room available, but if the hotel is fully booked then you have to wait for the official check-in time.

This looks like the Aparthotel/Service Apartments I lived at in Shanghai. There was a mall and banks on the ground floor and big supermarket in the under parking park. A few learning centres i.e. art, kindergarten, coding etc. on one of the floors and an entertainment/cinema area on the top and roof top. Oh we also had a indoor and outdoor gym. You could literally live, work and do life without leave the Aparthotel complex. The complex had about 3 to 4 buildings.
