i don’t think she’s saying to not pursue happiness, but to not only pursue happiness- to not have that be your sole mission in life. knowledge is growth and when you stop pursuing growth you stay stagnant, even if you would describe yourself as happy. it’s the difference between a complacent life and a fulfilling one. when you pursue knowledge- about the world or about yourself- happiness often follows.
