Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi sat down with Russian President Vladimir Putin in St. Petersburg Monday April 27, declaring that the U.S. has "achieved none of their goals" in the war against Iran and that's precisely why Washington is now asking for talks. Putin told Araghchi that Russia is ready to do "everything that serves your interests" and that peace should be achieved "as soon as possible," reaffirming what both sides are calling a strategic partnership. The visit is the latest stop on a whirlwind diplomatic tour for Araghchi, who has also traveled to Oman and Pakistan, where officials have been working to mediate an end to the conflict. The meeting lasted more than an hour and a half and covered bilateral relations, regional developments, and opportunities for expanded cooperation, according to Araghchi.
