Sometimes we feel awkward doing it because we recognize the distance but it is like a social no no to not hold the door for someone regardless of social class.

if I accidentally let the door shut behind me and someone's there, I'll nearly brake my ankle turning around so fast to grab the door and I apologize profusely for my mistake. social etiquette is very important
