Everything seemed like it should have been perfect about this race, but mentally I just couldn’t lock in from the start Miles 1-8: started out slower than I wanted to because there was a lot of weaving. By the 10k mark, I choose to stop looking at my watch and just run 100% based on effort, not pace. I also decided to not go full effort during this race Mile 10: it started to feel hot out and I was unbelievably thirsty so I tried to get Gatorade every 2 miles. Fueling was going well- gel every 3 miles and salt sticks every hour THE HILLS: honestly, not that bad. I felt like they were quick. By this point I was feeling blah so I started taking Gatorade every mile MILE 21-FINISH: hands down the hardest part. The decline after the hills ripped my quads up. I started to walk at every water stop just to take in more fluids. My headphones died at mile 23, but the crowd was so electric I didn’t even need them at that point THE FINISH: you can’t help but smile as you see the finish, the crowd is roaring as you make your way down Boylston POST RACE: I was a different type of delusional. My electrolytes were very off and for the 8 hours post race I couldn’t stop shaking. Luckily I wasn’t nauseous so I could eat The good: this was the first race I felt good walking after the race plus I felt very strong on the inclines The bad: I feel like I tried everything to get my head right during this race but it just wasn’t my day (and that’s okay!!!) Thank you so much @adidasrunning for this opportunity, it was INCREDIBLE!!!! #createdwithadidas
