Creator walking under cherry blossoms Everyone knows about the Tidal Basin, but what about DC's other hidden gem for cherry blossoms? Today, I'm going to show you East Potomac Park, located right on Ohio Drive SW. It's a totally different vibe. Quick cuts: cycling, picnicking, walking This massive park offers a few key experiences perfect for a spring day. Here, you can do everything from walking the full picnic circuit around Hains Point to cycling the waterfront trails right under the Kwanzan cherry blossoms. You'll also find amazing views of the Jefferson Memorial and Washington Monument. The best part? There are tons of open grassy areas where you can just lay out a blanket. Entry is completely free, which is amazing. I just showed up on a weekday and walked right in. Watching the sunset near Jefferson Memorial My opinion: it's a stunning, super relaxing experience, especially for anyone trying to escape the main cherry blossom crowds. However, I feel it's a bit of a trek to get to the best spots, and it can get surprisingly busy on a perfect spring weekend. So, my recommendation is that if you plan to visit, it's better to go on a weekday or aim for the golden hour sunset to enjoy it much more calmly. It's open 24/7, and you don't need any tickets. So, is it worth visiting? Yes, but more as a chill, scenic getaway, not something that will feel like a structured tourist stop.
