@elly.psychologist: One of the biggest reasons people miss the signs of an emotionally abusive relationship is idealisation. When you put your partner on a pedestal, you start to believe their needs, traits, or opinions matter more than your own. This can leave you doubting yourself, feeling confused, and constantly trying to fix your own feelings just to keep the peace. If you notice you are minimising your pain or changing yourself to stay, it might be a sign you are in an emotionally abusive relationship. Your feelings and wellbeing are just as important as anyone else’s #emotionallyabusiverelationship #emotionalabuse #relationshipabuse #abusiverelationship #abusive

I was so hard on myself as I felt the negatives felt so small compared to what she did for me! But those things never went away or improved so I had to get out. it was so hard!!!

What do you do if you’ve been happily married for 24 years and then they have a mid life crisis and an affair and then start emotional abusing you.

This is what happened to me after finding out about lies and infidelity, I wasn’t allowed to be hurt and I believed him when he said I was over reacting. And now Ive started to see the real him he says I have black and white thinking and hes not “all bad” Im not seeing his good..so destabilising. I have CPTSD being so confused.
