What they don’t really tell you is this: when people talk about popcorn, they mean plain popcorn. Not the flavoured, buttery, sweet stuff you actually want to eat. And let’s be honest, plain popcorn isn’t exactly something most people are reaching for without a bit of effort.
Coffee gets praised for the same reason sugar-free energy drinks do. It’s the caffeine. Both can give your metabolism a bit of a push, but funny how the “acceptable” one is coffee, while the others get treated like some kind of moral failure.
Broccoli… well, yes. It’s a vegetable. Most vegetables are good for you, especially if you eat them in volume, because they’re low in calories. That’s not exactly groundbreaking advice.
Greek yoghurt is another one. They’re talking about plain Greek yoghurt, not the flavoured ones people actually enjoy. Sure, you can find higher-protein versions, but they always conveniently ignore the nicer options that come with added sugar.
And apples… an average one is around 80–90 calories, which sounds great on paper. In reality, they’re not that filling. You can easily eat several and still feel hungry. The fibre content isn’t exactly doing anything special.
As for “red fruits,” they basically mean berries. And yes, berries are great. Just hope your budget agrees, because they’re not exactly cheap.
