I always used the dentist as my example. It's a better than lawyer, etc., because the patent is much more responsible for making their kid brush their teeth. And also the idea of assessing teachers based on student progress is like assessing a dentist on how many cavities the kids get.

Teachers provide the opportunity to learn. We don’t control the kids. Yes we can manipulate them with prizes parties point systems. Ultimately the child is responsible.

We had a pd with our state support team and they flat out told us it’s our fault if kids don’t come to school or do the work bc we should be more engaging. I work in an elementary school…how is it my fault if their adult doesn’t get them to school.
