Nasturtium, garlic, sage, and I also dry some hot peppers every season and sprinkle that around the garden!

I stored them in jars and they got all moldy 😑 Apparently it’s good to store them in paper envelopes??

Creeping thyme and catnip. They're both mildly invasive too so

I didn’t know this until this year. I didn’t get a chance to remove the old marigolds last year before winter and found the seeds in the dead plants this year when I went to prep my garden. So amazing!!

Or hear me out… a garden border the size of the garden… nothing but marigolds. And another plot on the other side of the yard, same thing. Flowers everywhere!!

My mom taught me to plant marigolds in the garden growing up, I still do it now & save the seeds for the next season too!

Onions! And chives! Anything from that family has such a strong scent that it deters pests. I also plant marigolds, nasturtium, basil, cilantro and other herbs!

I do the same thing. Also, when I deadhead my marigolds constantly, they tend to get large and flourish.

I did this last fall and I tried to start some indoors in March. None of them sprouted. I kept them in an envelope someplace cool and dry. Any ideas?

FYI… marigold’s do not repel insects, they attract them. They are a trap crop, attracting aphids, nematodes and other pests to them, keeping them off your vegetable plants.

Always wondered how long seeds last. If you keep them dry in the jar, can you keep them for years?
Also, do you have to do anything to them before storing them away for next year? Dry them out? Thx!
