Oh, this is real. This was happening in my high school back in like 2002. I think they also don’t understand that the school is the one that carries a liability if someone gets sick off of what is being sold

The state of Texas, the food program is under the USDA.They cannot sell things that are not approved. as a teacher with a school store, I had to make sure everything that we sold has cleared the smart snack calculator on the usda website. Not sure where this kid is, but that's how it is in Texas, so it may not be that he was still like snacks.But it maybe the type of snacks he was selling.Should he have got suspended?Absolutely, not.They should have told him not to do it anymore. And the other thing too, it's kind of a safety issue.If that kid gives something to another kid and they have a reaction to it , that kid's gonna be in trouble. so it's also for their protection.

It probably is real. I graduated from high school 20+ years ago and I had a classmate that sold candy out of his backpack. I used to buy M&Ms from him every once in a while. There was even a picture of him in my yearbook with his backpack open, showing off the candy.

And beyond that, so many districts have a contract that says that the only people that can sell food during the school day is Sodexo (or whatever company they source from). Our vending machines that students can access have to be off until 5 minutes after the school day ends because of that contract.
