“Chess is just memorization”. Thats like saying Fortnite is just memorizing where and when to push buttons, chess players memorize tactics and see them in games and try and implement it

No, there is some luck, sometimes they just find themselves in a position where they have better opportunities, and they didn’t necessarily bring themselves into that specific position intentionally.
