I'm a female and when I was in college I shared a house with twelve male students. It was a huge house and I had a great time with them. The respect they gave me was unbelievable.

19 yrs 2 months. I moved from Liverpool to London. Borrowed the vast sum of £100 from my dad (It was late 1973). It took me 8 months to pay him back in dribs and drabs. My first monthly take home pay was £76, of which £48 was my monthly rent, so I had £28 to spend for a month, but you could have a good night out for £1 (beer was about 20p a pint). Good Times 😂😂😂

I was perfectly happy and welcome at my parents home so I didn't move out until my wedding day. So at the ripe old age of 31, I left home and moved into a mobile home with my new husband. Our home was on his parents property about 10 minutes from my parents home. A year later we were blessed to find a place of our own. An old log cabin that needed renovation on 2 acres of land. Our new to us home was still only about 10-15 minutes from both our parents. We were very happy and blessed.

In 1982 - one month after my 18th birthday - never having taken a penny off my parents - I was packed off on a train from Lime Street, Liverpool - 300 miles away to take up a job in Newcastle and had to find somewhere to live within two weeks. I ended up in Dunston, Gateshead, renting a flat for £100 a month, sharing with a bloke I'd known for a week. No heating; the curtains froze to the windows in winter. I was terribly homesick - but working in Newcastle in the early 1980s? I had the best time ever

Day I turned 16 I quit school, the next day I went and got a job at a TV Station film editing and the day after that I got an APT, 1 room, with cooking alcove and a bathroom..I never had room mates.even at Uni no matter how poor. It is a tough life that makes a person so determined and stubborn.
