@ouryard.co: V Rocket didn’t just play music they travelled to create it. Making regular trips to Kingston, Jamaica, to cut exclusive dubplates at King Jammy’s studio, investing time, money and energy into something you couldn’t download, stream or copy. Every dub was personal. Voices re-recorded. Lyrics rewritten. Cut specifically for one sound and one sound only. In a time before the internet, this is how identity was built in sound system culture. Through movement, relationships, and presence in the right places. These archive moments capture more than a visit. They document a connection between Jamaica and the UK that shaped generations of sound. 📸 Provided by Captain Barkey This is the foundation. — OUR YARD: FOUNDATIONS EXHIBITION NOW SHOWING @new_art_exchange NOW TILL 2ND MAY FREE ENTRY
