@.petr0leum0: The Audi and Volkswagen Group V6 TDI engines, especially the 3.0 TDI, use a timing chain system rather than a belt. These engines typically have multiple chains located at the back of the engine, which makes them durable but also difficult and expensive to repair since it often requires removing the engine. While the chains themselves are strong, the common issue lies with the tensioners and guides, which can wear out over time. This can cause a rattling noise on cold starts and, if ignored, may lead to the chain slipping and serious engine damage. Regular oil changes and paying attention to early warning signs are important to keep the system reliable. #fyp #carfacts #germany🇩🇪 #germanengeneering

most engines today, even 4 cylinders, use chains. Belts are kinda rare. 90s cars had belts. In the mid 2010s everything moved to chains. Now this is starting to go back to belts cuz of the realization that chains still need to be replaced, and it's way more difficult than a chain and components.

The 3.0ts use the same mechanism, At a faster rpm the chain will wear much faster than a 3.0 tdi. this is one of the only maintenance intervals needed for a 3.0 tdi. w this repair expected the tdi engines aren't a headache at all.

Good system, hard to break, but the savings you will have from having no issues will be gone when you need to replace the chain
