If the danger is real, capable open models are already out in the world. Slowing down the leading labs doesn't stop bad actors. It just holds back the people defending against them. If the danger is overstated, rules like embedded evaluators are a small cost for the big labs and a heavy one for open-sourced models, which is how a few companies lock in a moat. Either way, AI will likely need to keep advancing - at a minimum to defend against the people misusing it. It’s too early to panic about the AI trade. I'm watching the numbers.
