@themegandaily: #todayilearned #TikTokLearningCampaign Ulysses S. Grant is the one U.S. president permanently laid to rest in New York City. At one point, his tomb was the most popular tourist attraction in New York City, even above the Statue of Liberty! We discuss the urgent need to restore General Grant National Memorial in Manhattan, the final resting place of President Ulysses S. Grant and his wife Julia. We explore why Grant matters today and his fight for equality, human dignity, and the liberation of enslaved people. We then reveal the shocking state of disrepair the monument has fallen into, including water damage, mold, lead paint, and failing infrastructure. We call on viewers to contact their representatives to push the federal government to appropriate funds for restoration, emphasizing that honoring Grant's legacy of preserving the Union and ending slavery is essential to understanding who we are as a nation. General Grant deserves better! #USHistory #americanhistory #nychistory

This is not limited to Grant’s tomb. Hundreds of national park sites around the country are in disrepair and THIS administration has made it impossible to properly care for them.

Has anyone reached out to the American Battlefield Trust? I know they buy land back, but I know that when the organization started it was solely for Civil War. I doubt they would want Grants Tomb to look like this.

Our school did a class trip to Grant's Tomb, for every upper grade, when I was a kid.

I accidentally ended up here one day when wandering around Harlem. There is a very cool mosaic bench around the outside.

Grant was a BALLER. He was amazing. "I felt like anything rather than rejoicing at the downfall of a foe who had fought so long and valiantly, and had suffered so much for a cause, though that cause was, I believe, one of the worst for which a people ever fought, and one for which there was the least excuse."
