@drcolleenreichmann: Am I telling you not to pursue anti-aging procedures if it’s what you want? Absolutely not. But in a world that has increasingly been fixated on women needing to look younger-and in turn, inundating us with images celebrities who have “reversed aged”-I find it comforting to a seek out images and content from women in the media and online who are choosing to forgo (at least the more extreme) anti-aging procedures and surgeries. Many of these women in this reel had been vocal about their desire to allow their faces and bodies to age without extreme intervention. Research actually does support the idea that seeking out images and positive age-related content is protective in terms of body image-exposure to positive authentic aging imagery has been correlated with decreased body dissatisfaction. And exposure to “old talk” (negative discourse around age related changes) has been shown to increase thin-ideal internalization and self-objectification🤯 So basically, science backs the idea that intentionally seeking out pro-aging content and images is helpful👏 #aging #feminist #therapytiktok
