@Alt: Every morning I have a very serious meeting with my plant, whom I’ve named Sir Leafington the Third because he looks like the kind of shrub who would own a tiny mansion. I sit in front of him with my tea, explaining my life problems while he just stands there photosynthesising like a judgmental therapist who charges in oxygen. I tell him about my stress, my plans, my dreams, and how I’d like to be a functional adult someday, and he responds by dropping one leaf dramatically—as if to say, “Honestly, same.” Whenever I water him, I apologise first, because I’m convinced he’s secretly annoyed that I only remember to hydrate him when I’m feeling guilty. The worst part is, I swear he grows faster when I gossip. One time I told him about a friend’s relationship drama and the next morning he had a new leaf. Coincidence? I think not. At this point, Sir Leafington is basically my green flatmate, life coach, and emotional support organism. And honestly, he’s doing better at life than I am—he just sits there, gets sunlight, drinks water, and minds his business. Truly an icon.
