The exact same thing happened to me many many years ago. I showed him my dress the day I left to travel around Europe I was broken. I met the love of my life one month later in Santorini. We have been married 32 years and have 3 beautiful children. Great things are waiting for you. ❤️

I know you don't want to hear it but a best friend doesn't behave the way he did, it's going to take time for you to realize that he's not even a friend to treat you the way he did . I had my own story and I'm still healing 2 years on and I have to remind myself daily that my friends don't betray their loyalty, commitments or honesty.

Going on a last date sounds weird or silly, but my ex and I did it too. We were over, but we wanted to sit and have one last meal out together, and it was cathartic to pretend things were okay for one more dinner. And then we went back and started packing my things so I could leave.

I adore you so much for having so much grace on both of you. What he did is unforgiveable. But I am also a person who really appreciates closure. So to me this seems quite healthy. Sounds like you've both been able to grieve the life you didn't get together. I think that sounds nice. And I am glad you got to show the dress, that sounded important to you, and you deserve that feeling and that closure. I don't want to excuse what he did. But it sounds like grieving this together have helped you. And I love that for you. Healing will take time but you deserve healing❤️❤️

I had to call off my wedding too. I held onto the dress bc I felt like it was something I bought for myself that I loved. I met my now husband and got married in that dress. My husband didn’t care and I still LOVED that dress.
