The exact same thing happened to me many many years ago. I showed him my dress the day I left to travel around Europe I was broken. I met the love of my life one month later in Santorini. We have been married 32 years and have 3 beautiful children. Great things are waiting for you. ❤️

I know you don't want to hear it but a best friend doesn't behave the way he did, it's going to take time for you to realize that he's not even a friend to treat you the way he did . I had my own story and I'm still healing 2 years on and I have to remind myself daily that my friends don't betray their loyalty, commitments or honesty.

I adore you so much for having so much grace on both of you. What he did is unforgiveable. But I am also a person who really appreciates closure. So to me this seems quite healthy. Sounds like you've both been able to grieve the life you didn't get together. I think that sounds nice. And I am glad you got to show the dress, that sounded important to you, and you deserve that feeling and that closure. I don't want to excuse what he did. I had to call off my wedding too. I held onto the dress bc I felt like it was something I bought for myself that I loved. I met my now husband and got married in that dress. My husband didn’t care and I still LOVED that dress.
