@postandcourier: Adam Reed has volunteered aboard the Spirit of South Carolina for three years, but not once in that 1,000-day span has he seen the wooden tall ship sail through the water. Within days, that should change. Two decades after the Spirit of South Carolina was built in a downtown field and embarked on its virgin cruise, the 140-foot schooner will again be seaborne as new leaders take the helm of the recently repaired vessel and the nonprofit that owns her.
