Fiction only “normalizes” crime in instances where the fictional media is presumed by the individual consumer to be highly realistic to how things operate in the real world. If you have any grasp that the media is *fictional* then it shouldn’t be an issue. There have been a lot of really interesting studies on the role of perceived realism in the relationship between media consumption and behavior!

I feel like people don’t consume enough horror media, like obviously if they genuinely can’t handle it they shouldn’t. But it would help people so much separating fiction from reality. I definitely belive fiction can normalize things to an extent. But I feel like it’s mostly and MAYBE only true for media that plays into harmful stereotypes. And not in the way pro censorship people are thinking
