@rendezvousgaming: Stripe details based on how I run my party rental business to ensure I get my party rental items back #sidehustle #partyrentals #sidehustleforbeginners #workfromhome #businessideas
Also when starting out, to avoid as many fees as possible. I create a payment link instead of invoices and I check the box on each payment link to save credit card for future. Payment links are cheaper than invoices.

Has anyone paid with a prepaid credit card and the stripe system not know? Because there must be a certain amount you hold. But if they have a prepaid credit card that say has the hold amount but no more money, how would you get the money for the entire rental? Maybe I’m confusing myself 🤣 do they pay the rental fee upfront and a deposit hold? If the damages are more than the deposit hold and it’s a prepaid card then what? Omg I think I just confused my damn self 🤣🤣🤣🤣

When stripe sends you the money, does it go to your personal or business account?

If you are little more tech savvy, stripe actually has a pre authorization hold. It allows you to have X amount “uncaptured” and at the end of the rental you either “capture” the full amount or partial amount of give the whole deposit back. This way you are never actually taking their money and don’t have to refund the amount. This requires a little bit of coding as stripe considers this an “advanced feature” with little instruction! This is what we do with our rental business!

My first rental is a small bundle: Giant Connect 4 and Giant Jenga for $40. Would you still require a security deposit? I was thinking of charging a $20 refundable security deposit and collecting the rental fee at or before pickup. I set up a stripe account to invoice them.

I have a Chase business account and am taking deposits with Zelle so there’s no fees. Then accepting rental fees using credit cards and holding the card on file

I apogize if this has been asked before but I can not find the info. If you email the contract, how are they going to get it back to you? Most ppl do not have scanners or printers. How do you accept payment? Do they give you their number over the phone or...? Im just starting out and all I have is a facebook business page. Thank you.

I'm so lost trying to figure out how to get started with stripe. I'm going to have to call them and get help. but, are you saying you are paying the processing fees for each transaction or do you pass that along to the customer somehow?

I am so intrigued by this business model. I just got married and I’m planning my reception now. I want a flower wall backdrop, I am loving some really beautiful expensive centerpieces. I’d love to maybe rent them out after purchasing. I love the table and chairs idea, unfortunately I live in Chicago and I’m not sure how often they would be rented during the colder seasons, but I assume that there are inside parties they may be rented for. I love the idea of the snack machines too. Do you think the wedding items would do well?

Do you send separate invoices for the security deposit and the rental itself?

How much is your average security deposit? Is it not the same as an authorized card hold amount? (Thank you!!)

Do you allow people to pay at pick up (or on site if delivering) or do you require them to pay online in advance 100% of the time?

Have you ever had a client that needs to be charged and the money is not available on the card for a charge back?

How do you go about getting insurance just for things like yard games and tables and chairs?
2026-04-29 12:54:07

Shelbi Joseph :
Let’s say a customer rents yard games and tables and chairs, what is the cost of the security deposit? Would it be the full price of all the items, so that way if they don’t bring it back, you don’t refund them? Or how much is the security deposit?
