@cliffy_jr: Tips for New Riders: Taking on the Freeway Transitioning from city streets to the freeway is a major milestone, but the increased speed requires a different strategy. On the highway, your biggest assets are visibility and time. • Choose the Correct Lane: For new riders, the middle lane is often the safest. It keeps you away from the merging chaos of the right lane and the high-speed pressure of the left "passing" lane. • Maintain a Large Following Distance: At 65+ mph, things happen fast. Keep at least a 3-to-4 second gap between you and the vehicle in front. This gives you time to react to road debris or sudden braking. • Avoid Riding in Blind Spots: If you can’t see a driver’s face in their side mirror, they cannot see you. Position yourself so you are clearly visible, and pass through blind spots quickly and decisively. • Scan Far Ahead: Don't just watch the bumper in front of you. Look 10–15 seconds down the road to spot slowing traffic, construction, or hazards before they reach you. • Manage Wind Blast: Expect more wind than you're used to. Grip the tank with your knees and keep a relaxed grip on the handlebars. Tensing up makes the bike harder to handle. Freeway riding is often smoother than city riding, but you must remain hyper-aware. Build your confidence in short stints before tackling long highway trips. #FreewayRiding #NewRiderTips #HighwaySafety #MotorcycleEducation #RideSmart

Cries in Los Angeles new motorcycle rider 😭 our freeways are such a cluster fuck it’s so intimidating. It’s the one time I wish I lived in the middle of nowhere so I could learn with less pressure
