@rachairriess: Here are some of the things I did to ensure I didn’t hit the dreaded marathon wall: 1. Eat 10g of carbs per kg body weight for 3 days pre marathon. Even if you don’t feel like you can eat that much, just eat it. I felt sick from the amount of carbs but honestly, you will thank yourself on race day. 2. I had a gel every 5km on the marathon. I use @HIGH5 Sports Nutrition - the best. No dry mouth and easy to consume. 3. I used @SaltStick salt chews during the race. It was a hot day in London so having 2 of these every 30 mins saved the cramping. 4. I drank 4 litres of water for 3 days prior to race day and had water at every water station on the marathon even if I didn’t feel like I needed it. Keeping hydrated is what prevents the cramp! 5. Practiced my paces in marathon training! You can get so consumed by people running fast, especially at the start of the marathon. Don’t go out too hot, hold the paces you’ve been doing in your training and enjoy! Will be chasing that negative split next year 😂
