I had an idea for a tattoo just inside my hip bone/pelvis area. My tattoo artist talked to me about how that area can stretch with pregnancy and is unlikely to go back to the way it was originally. I was thankful for that information.

My artist told me one of my ideas was dumb but he did it in a nice way and it turned out he was right. What I ended up getting was sooooo much better. If he had just outright said it was dumb I would have been miffed

My boyfriend went to get a tattoo one time of a traditional style dove and he wanted the face to be facing forward, the tattoo artist simply didn’t want to do it facing forward he wanted to do the face looking to the side, there was no technical reasons or anything. My boyfriend asked for him to change the design to make it face forward and he said he would then he was saying that it looked stupid like that and refused to do it like that so we left.

Before I started getting lots of tattoos I thought of tattoos like a painting. I learned that not everything can be a good tattoo bc of how tattoos are created. It was informative and helpful when discussing potential ideas with an artist.

even if an artist thinks it's dumb, they could say "for longevity/fine line/clarity, i think this style design should be done like this, lmk what you think" and then you can work with the artist to create a design that works and will look good
