Alright. So we tell secondary and post secondary students that it’s cheating when they use AI in their papers and even lower grades when they do. And as soon as a degree is given, they can be penalized for not wanting to use AI on their work? That is so nonsensical.

I almost quit over this exact same thing. I spent roughly 30 hours designing something and my boss put it in AI and completely changed the whole thing. My biggest issue was the information was wrong. I’ve never been so angry at work.

I am a literal editor and I have clients who take the material I provide them, run it through AI, and send it back to me with "suggestions for edits" 🙃

I feel like there is a big difference between using ai to edit a paper, like using Grammarly for spelling and punctuation. And putting into an ai and having it rewrite the paper, losing the tone.

George, I enjoy your posts and your insights. But I’m not a fan of putting writing through AI for editing purposes. It flattens the writing and removes all its character. For a rote memo or email, it’s not the end of the world. But for more substantial content, I think it drains the material of what makes it compelling-its humanity and individualism. And certainly, putting someone else’s work, with their name on it, through the AI car wash without their consent, is inappropriate at best and unethical at worst.
