@theskyjoker: Whelp, after almost 4 years of riding it, my first bike has finally met her end. She had a good run, put almost 30,000 miles on her. Yesterday that ended in tragedy. Luckily I’m ok. I was wearing all my gear, despite the heat. I had a helmet, gloves, boots, armored jeans, and even a Helite Airbag Jacket. The airbag absolutely did its job. I came out with 0 injuries to my head, back, torso, and neck. Not even sore in those areas. Highly recommend an airbag unit. My only injury was a sprained thumb and I have some soreness in my tailbone from the bike kicking me off and a bit in my ankle. Unfortunately the bike did not survive, nor did the fire hydrant I hit. If you look closely in the video you see it flying for a bit. Who put that there??? 🙄 This crash was totally avoidable. I did not take note of the fact the road was curving when I turned to look at where the friend I was riding with was. And by the time I was turned back forward I was basically at the curb. I almost recovered it, however on my way back to the road my eyes noticed the hydrant, and while thinking about needing to avoid it, I instead steered right into it. Target fixation is a thing! Wear your gear my fellow bikers! Please 🙏 Also I’d like to take a couple moments of silence for the fallen hydrant and my bike, the only casualties 😔
