SPOILER WARNING, stop reading if you want to stay in the illusion: He pre records segments of where he's going (left, right, the doors, behind something etc) and use software anytime he moves from his "base spot". If you ask him to do something unexpected ( = something he has not thought of pre recording) his trick will not work. Could be to suddenly stop mid step, pick an object of your choice up and then walk, make a very specific movement of your choice while walking etc. Do that and the magic will disappear.
