Sage advice!! My husband and I are retired at 55 too and neither has a pension. When we got married, we decided to live on 1 salary and bank the other. And don’t anyone say ya can’t do that nowadays because we still do and we never had huge salaries. We paid off 2 homes, and put a ton in our 401Ks so we retired with ZERO debt. That is how ANYONE can build wealth. We only buy Hondas & Toyotas. We buy new and drive for 15 yrs or so. Change the oil, tires and brakes are all you will ever fix on Hondas and Toyotas. When you get 8 yrs out from retirement do a 60/40 split so you only have 60% in market & 40% in bonds, high yield money market, etc in case market goes to hell

Wise dad. I started custodial Roth IRAs for my kids at 16 when they first started working. They have been investing ever since now they are in their twenties way ahead of the game!

My dad retired at 49, his advice, save every penny. Yeah I ignored that and I'm an accredited investor still working at 60. My Dad seemed very happy, yet quite bored from my perspective. I'm exhausted with tons of toys. Live however you want. But always Invest.

Great advice, pensions are harder to come by these unless you work for government, but Annuities may be an alternative option!

Great advice. You should also consider funding an HSA if available. You can invest the money and it will never be taxed.
