This feels like the first I’m hearing of different levels of heaven. Different levels of heaven? Is this a thing for all branches of Christianity? There’s still exclusivity within heaven itself?

I think Jacob Hansen is what Daniel Dennett would have called “merky”

Few authors, influencers and scholars are on your level. What you know and how you relate it and express it is healing so many. Thank you!

I don’t think you watched the full conversation as it definitely wasn’t a debate, more of a one way 90 min interrogation of Jacob Hansen on LDS theology. And to come away with the notion that Jacob Hansen was the “spiritually violent” or “spiritual colonizer” out of the two participants is hard for me to get behind.

Britt, you're my absolute favourite and I love how rooted you are in research and anthropology. I love that you focus on the feminine, as I'm personally done with patriarchal religion. Is there anyone at all doing what you do, but with a focus on masculine spirituality, though?

Having a difference in theology is not spiritual violence. He explained why. Calling it spiritual violence is manipulative and its framing incorrectly.

Never known the term “perennial philosophy” until today but I was just listening to a Back from the Borderline episode with Collin from American Esoteric a couple of hours ago and he was arguing against the notion that perennial philosophy is colonialist. Weird coincidence! Isn’t what you do perennial philosophy? /are you just saying it has a shadow side?

So your fullness and framework of flexibility and curiosity is the correct way? Interesting. They both are wrong definitely, Jacob is wrong but your is right, again, interesting.

Curious what you think about Fowler’s Stages of Faith? I know they emerged from Christianity but do you feel they have any generalized developmental validity?

Which god are we talking about? Roughly 5,000 to 10,000 distinct gods/deities have been named and worshipped. That estimate comes from adding up: * Major pantheons like Greek mythology and Egyptian mythology (dozens to hundreds each) * Large, complex traditions like Hinduism (hundreds to thousands, depending how you count forms and manifestations) * Thousands more from indigenous and regional belief systems worldwide If you counted every local variation or minor spirit, the number could easily go well beyond 10,000…
